Historical

Australia does not have a long history of events but the land/country is very old. It is believed that the whole world was joined as one land mass called Pangea which is a Greek word meaning “All Lands”.  Two masses split off to form Laurasia and Gondwana.

Gondwana Land was once comprised of Australia, Antarctica, South America, Africa.  The Arabian Pensilua and the Indian Sub Continent moved into the Northern Hemisphere.

The first to separate were Antartica, India Madagascar, and Australia.  These lands were separated from Africa and South America.  South America then drifted west away from Africa.

The scientists know that these lands were joined because of the similarities of the rock formation.  It is hard to believe that these lands were a tropical paradise.

This section outlines some of the earlier events, inventions, scientific contributions etc.
