About Owen Pointon
Owen Pointon now lives in North Queensland in the Tableland town of Atherton having moved from Brisbane about nine years ago.
Owen’s subject matter is strictly Australian comprising native birds and animals and some Australian bush scenes. His present home is surrounded by wild animals and various outback settings. He grew up in a rural area around Cleveland which at that time was not as populated as it is today. Some of his sketches depict scenes from country life.
Owen’s preference was to paint in oils but he has changed to acrylics. Owen likes to travel around Australia with his camera and sketchbook. He can be seen taking photos of wildlife, old sheds, farm posts, even the odd bits of rusty wire. Owen has become well known and many of his originals are now available as high-quality prints on artist quality paper and canvas.
